We are grateful for your continued prayers and support for our family and the ministry here in Peru. It is an honor to serve the Lord in this way, and we recognize that you all play an integral role in us being here! God has continued to show Himself faithful throughout the events of October – I’ll share more with you here:
In late September I received a call from my sister that my grandmother was being rushed to the hospital. Just a few minutes later I was told that she had passed away. She had lived with my parents since I was a teenager, and I got to witness alongside my family the change that God made in her life when she came to know Christ as her Savior. I had the privilege to preach her funeral and clearly present the gospel to those in attendance. I was able to spend a few days with my family during that time to share stories and reflect on the faithfulness of God in our family. I am so grateful to know that my grandmother knows Jesus, and I desire to invest my life in Peru showing others how they might know Him also!
Cemetery Evangelism
Every year the street where our church is located is closed down and vendors set up tents to sell flowers for “Day of the Dead”. Traditionally families will come and purchase flowers from these vendors and visit their family members who have passed away. We took advantage of the crowds gathering near our church to offer free bottles of water, gospel literature, counseling, prayer, and live music. Would you pray for the thousands who heard the truth of the gospel that God would be working in their lives and that we could be used to minister to them?
In October we kicked off our missions month and used every ministry as an opportunity to teach on missions. In the kids club ministry special lessons were taught on missions and how we can be involved. We showed the missionary testimony of Josh Sullivan with subtitles to encourage the church to pray for missionaries and to demonstrate the faithfulness of God. We believe the Great Commission is for Redeemer Baptist Church in Arequipa, Peru too! We anticipate the great things God will do through these efforts.
