I cannot believe we have now been here in Peru for an entire year! Everything was so new and different, and now we’ve made it our home. God has done some wonderful things in our family’s personal growth, ministry opportunities, and language learning. God has blessed us tremendously, and we are so grateful to you for your sacrificial giving to make it all possible.
Here’s a review of what we’ve been up to and how God has been blessing here:
Finished Language School!
We’ve now finished language school! In just 11 months we completed an intensive language studies program. Our teachers soon became some of our best friends, and have been used of God to give us the tools we need to minister to those around us. The Lord has been so good to us and we are grateful for His providence.
Amor Baptist Church had a special Christmas service in which we set up tents in the street and invited all to come for a service as well as hot chocolate and paneton (a special bread served around Christmas here). We had several first time visitors and various indicated they wanted to accept Christ! How fitting: to understand and receive the gospel of Christ just days before celebrating His birth! Praise God for a faithful servant to preach His word and for the Holy Spirit revealing their need for Christ.
Our country has been in a declared State of Emergency since December 14th because of political protests. Main roads are being blocked with burning tires and large rocks to stop transportation, and the airport here was taken over and closed down for a number of days. Please pray for safety and peace as the country navigates this difficult time. We know God is in control and we pray His will to be done here!
