Is it already December?! Before Thanksgiving we were already decorating our Christmas tree and making plans for the end of the year. The seasons don’t really change here in southern Peru so it seems to make the year go by without us realizing! As we enter this season we are grateful to God for all He is doing through the ministry here. Let me share a bit about this past month:
Equipped to Keep Sharing
One aspect of life and ministry in Latin America is power outages! They are a common occurance and something we deal with in our home as well as the church. We had an outage on Thursday night as church was ending, and had to use our phones to find our way out of the building! Thanks to your faithful support we were able to purchase a battery-powered speaker with a microphone for the next time we are without power!
Loving Without Exceptions
We have been studying through the book of James on Sunday mornings, and one common theme is putting our faith into action including in our treatment of others. The Venezuelan community here is large, and many times isolated and discriminated against. We decided to have a special service to welcome them into our church and celebrate their culture with their traditional foods. We had 15 Venezuelans come to church that morning! Please pray that God would continue to work through us to reach this group.
Baptism
We are thrilled that we held our first baptism service in November! José is a man in our church who comes from a Catholic background. After having accepted Christ he was excited to take his next step and follow the Lord in baptism. He shared his testimony with the church and was plunged into a freezing cold kiddie pool. Please be praying for him as He seeks the Lord and grows in his walk daily!
Disciples Making Disciples
My wife and missionary Lauren Grant have been working hard to disciple and train ladies to be prepared to disciple others. This is a group of ladies who finished the first level of discipleship, and several of them have stepped into the role of discipling other ladies in our church! This is a huge step in the growth and maturity of the church here, please pray for continued growth.
As we press forward in hope and expectation we are reminded of all of the ways God has provided up to this point, including bringing us in contact with YOU! Thank you for your faithfulness and prayers for our family. !
Redeemer Baptist Church
There are about 80,000 people in this area and we are excited to be able to serve them with the gospel of Christ!
The church is growing rapidly and Lord willing will soon outgrow our current meeting space!
Our desire is to purchase a piece of property in the area to be able to provide a long-term home for the church and provide the stability needed for long-term growth.
We have now seen $1,500 given toward this project!
Would you pray for us as we seek to raise $200,000 to purchase a property and building to provide a lasting lighthouse of hope in this urban community?
SUPPORT ADDRESS UPDATE:
Vision Baptist Missions, Inc. and the Our Generation Training Center have been praying for God to provide space for the ministry to expand. In February 2022, through the giving of many generous individuals and churches, God provided an excellent property in Dawsonville, Georgia with several buildings. We are very excited about the property the Lord has given us and the opportunities to expand into the future. We are so thankful for how the Lord has blessed our mission. One thing that also comes with this blessing is a new mailing and support address. Please begin sending all mail and support to the following:
